Shuozhou city, located in the northern area of the coal-rich Shanxi province, produced 88.2 million tonnes of coal over January-June, down 23.89% from the previous year, data from the local coal industry bureau showed on July 23.The drop was mainly because some mines ran low capacities to reduce losses amid falling prices.Of this, the coal output from local mines – owned by governments at the prefecture and lower levels and private operators – amounted to 32.12 million tonnes in the first half of the year, dipping 29.1% on year.Coal output from state-owned ChinaCoal Pingshuo Group Co. stood at 36.45 million tonnes, a drop of 32.19% on year.In June, Shuozhou produced a total 20.49 million tonnes of coal, rising 24.34% on month but down 5.73% on year.Of this, the coal output from local coal mines amounted to 8.71 million tonnes, soaring 52.92% on month but down 6.38% on year.Coal output from ChinaCoal Pingshuo stood at 7.83 million tonnes, dropping 1.14% on month and down 13.24% on year.Raw coal sales in Shuozhou over January-June totaled 40.36 million tonnes, down 26.93% on year, with June sales at 10.26 million tonnes; while washed coal sales totaled 67.93 million tonnes during the same period, down 13.73%, with June sales at 13.04 million tonnes.By end-June, raw coal stockpile across the city stood at 3.98 million tonnes, rising 24.45% on month but down 24.07% on year; while washed coal stocks was 3.01 million tonnes, rising 18.58% on month and up 217.81% on year.In June, the mine-mouth price of 3,500-4,000 Kcal/kg thermal coals from Shuozhou was 80-90 yuan/t; that of 4,000-4,500 Kcal/kg and 4,500-5,000 Kcal/kg materials was 90-145 yuan/t and 145-200 yuan/t, respectively.That was a 45 yuan/t drop from a year ago, on the basis of average price, data showed.
